The powerful seven channel amplifier section can be configured for 7.1 channel surround sound, as well as being able to drive a 5.1 channel system in the main room along with powered stereo speaker outputs for second zone audio. The video section features extensive video source switching and up-conversion capability, and is equipped with three latest specification v1.3a HDMI inputs and one HDMI output, with up to 1080p resolution.

In addition, the AVR-1909 features Faroudja DCDi video processing and up-conversion, breathing new life into standard definition sources, along with three HD component video inputs and one HD component video output. Setup is a snap, thanks to the icon-based on screen display, and the Audyssey MultEQ acoustic correction and optimization system custom-tailors the sound for optimum tonal balance throughout the listening space. To eliminate irritating swings in volume between TV shows and commercials, the AVR-1909 is one of the first to offer Audyssey Dynamic Volume automatic volume-leveling system, as well as Audyssey Dynamic EQ to ensure rich bass and smooth tonal balance, even at low volume levels.

Robust power source for each block, for stable supply of current

To produce a clear, stable power circuit that prevents unwanted noise from affecting the sound, the AVR-1909 has a dedicated CPU and Standby transformer that are separate from the audio and video circuitry. The AVR-1909 is endowed with a powerful rectifier circuit with 12,000?F block capacitors and bridge diodes of 8A capacity, surpassing typical models in this price range, to supply stable current with negligible noise.

Minimum Signal Path

The "simple and straight" design concept has been thoroughly implemented in the signal paths to contribute to immaculately clean audio and video playback. Signal paths are as short as possible to keep signal degradation in the audio and video circuitry to an absolute minimum.

Direct Mechanical Ground

The vibration-resistant construction has been reviewed to thoroughly suppress the adverse influences of vibration on sound quality. The power transformers, a source of vibration, have been securely mounted on the highly rigid bottom chassis. Direct mounting of cast-iron feet to the radiator in near proximity to each other serves to suppress mutual vibration with the power transformers and other sources of vibration. Compressed Audio Restorer Denon’s new audio technology for MP3/WMA/AAC compressed audio formats restores higher frequency sounds, along with rich, deeper bass.

Audyssey Dynamic Volume, for real-time volume adjustment

Large changes in volume sometimes occur between documentaries where the sound is mainly narrative, and movies which often contain loud sound effects. Viewers often raise the volume for documentaries to hear the narrative more easily, but then turn it down again when a commercial with loud sound effects comes on. They do this numerous times during a program of this type. Audyssey Dynamic Volume constantly monitors the sound sources and adjusts the volume to the optimum level for the particular source being heard without sacrificing dynamic range.

The AVR-1909 is also equipped with Audyssey Mult EQ which measures the acoustic characteristics of the room to obtain the optimum acoustic effects, and Audyssey Dynamic EQ which reproduces the high and low range with the optimum acoustic effect during low volume levels. Dynamic Volume combines these two functions to achieve maximum performance.
